KPO was started in India by McKinsey when it opened up a knowledge center in 1987. KPO is the next big boom after BPO. The main reason for it is the variety of services provided by KPO industry which is not restricted to information technology but also looks at other sectors like Business Research, Data Acquisition, Clinical Research, Educational Services etc. KPO prospect is brilliant and in next 5 to 6 years it will be on higher level then BPO. Expectations regarding KPO snowballing growth rate is about 45% and it is anticipated that by 2010, India will have 70% of the global KPO market. The Indian KPO exports are estimated to touch USD 12 billion by 2010. The current number of KPO employees in India is likely to be 25,000. It is predicted by NASSCOM that the number of KPO professionals will increase to 250,000 by 2010. India is all set to become the global KPO leader.
